Overview
International Trademark Applications
To protect your trademark in other countries there are two main options:
(1) Filing a trademark application directly in the country of interest; and
(2) Filing a International Madrid Protocol application.
Generally, we recommend to file a Madrid Protocol application as only a single application is filed at the Office of the country of origin which is usually the Australian Patent Office. Protection may then be sought in one or more counties. However, we note that in some instances it may be preferable to file direct applications and we would be happy to discuss these instances with you.
